Approximately 50 minutes by car via the A708 and A7. It's far enough to feel like a genuine escape and close enough to be reached easily in an afternoon. There is unfortunately no direct public transport to the Yarrow Valley. But there is The Borders Railway is a 30-mile (48 km) railway line in Scotland, reopened in 2015, connecting Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders, with intermediate stations including Shawfair, Eskbank, and Galashiels
The Gordon Arms in Yarrow (roughly 2 miles) is a much-loved local restaurant — a proper Borders institution with strong connections to James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd.
