Day One: Arrive, Exhale, Explore


3:00 PM – Arrive at The Scullery


Turn off the main road and follow the winding farm track until you reach our stone-built hideaway. Step into a calm, welcoming space with original features and warm textures. Enjoy a few local treats that make you feel right at home.

4:30 PM – Riverside Stroll to Yarrow Water


Ease into your stay with a peaceful walk through meadows and trees down to Yarrow Water. Spot herons, hear the breeze through the birch trees, and feel your shoulders drop.


7:00 PM – Dinner at The Gordon Arms


A short drive brings you to this friendly, traditional inn. They offer seasonal Scottish dishes like lamb, venison, and fresh trout. Reserve ahead for a cosy fireside table. Visit The Gordon Arms

8:30 PM – A Warm Cuppa & Stargazing


Back at The Scullery, make a warm cuppa and settle in. If the skies are clear, step outside and take in a breathtaking blanket of stars. The Milky Way is often visible thanks to our dark skies.

Day Two: Adventure at Your Own Pace


8:00 AM – Slow Start & Local Breakfast


Wake naturally. Brew fresh coffee and cook breakfast using locally sourced supplies. We leave a few essentials to get you started. No rush, just good food and a soft view of the hills.


10:00 AM – Hike a Section of the Southern Upland Way


Grab your boots and walk part of this long-distance trail. You’ll find solitude, open views, and the kind of silence that feeds the soul. Explore the Southern Upland Way

1:00 PM – Picnic at St. Mary’s Loch


Drive out to St. Mary’s Loch, the largest loch in the Borders. Spread a blanket, tuck into your picnic, and watch the reflections ripple across the water.

3:30 PM – Discover Traquair House


Step back into history at Scotland’s oldest inhabited house. Wander its walled gardens, try beer from its on-site brewery, and pick up artisan gifts in the shop. Visit Traquair House

Stock up on fresh ingredients from Brodies of Peebles or a nearby farm shop. Prepare a relaxed supper in your private kitchen. Dine in with a glass in hand, wrapped in a woolen blanket, and enjoy the calm.

8:30 AM – Final Morning Ramble


Before you leave, take one last walk around the farm track or woodland edge. Greet the sheep, breathe in the Borders air, and carry a little stillness with you.
